Browder’s theorem and manifolds with corners
Duality and the Wu classes. The “Spanier-Whitehead dual” of a spectrum X is the function spectrum (in which S denotes the sphere spectrum) DX = F (X,S) (which exists by Brown representability). It comes equipped with an “evaluation” pairing DX ∧X → S. Write H∗(−) for homology with F2 coefficients. If X is finite, then the induced pairing H−∗(DX)⊗H∗(X)→ F2 is perfect, so there is an isomorphism ...
متن کاملPositive Mass Theorem on Manifolds admitting Corners along a Hypersurface
We study a class of non-smooth asymptotically flat manifolds on which metrics fails to be C across a hypersurface Σ. We first give an approximation scheme to mollify the metric, then we prove that the Positive Mass Theorem [8] still holds on these manifolds if a geometric boundary condition is satisfied by metrics separated by Σ.
متن کاملAn algebraic index theorem for Poisson manifolds
The formality theorem for Hochschild chains of the algebra of functions on a smooth manifold gives us a version of the trace density map from the zeroth Hochschild homology of a deformation quantization algebra to the zeroth Poisson homology. We propose a version of the algebraic index theorem for a Poisson manifold which is based on this trace density map. 1991 MSC: 19K56, 16E40.
متن کاملHomology and manifolds with corners
We define a model for the homology of manifolds and use it to describe the intersection product on the homology of compact oriented manifolds and to define homological quantum field theories which generalizes the notions of string topology introduced by Chas and Sullivan and homotopy quantum field theories introduced by Turaev.
متن کاملA Signature Formula for Manifolds with Corners of Codimension Two
We present a signature formula for compact 4k-manifolds with corners of codimension two which generalizes the formula of Atiyah, Patodi and Singer for manifolds with boundary. The formula expresses the signature as a sum of three terms, the usual Hirzebruch term given as the integral of an L-class, a second term consisting of the sum of the eta invariants of the induced signature operators on t...
